ARTSREACH
Arstreach is a partly-volunteer run organization that arranges for shows to tour village halls. This enables people like ourselves to see productions that would not be viable for individual halls to stage by spreading traveling costs and using Local Authority subsidies.
A small working party has been formed, accountable to the Village Hall Management Committee.
Three highly successful Artsreach events have now been held in Cerne`s village hall. Artsreach have been so impressed by the response and the facilities that they have chosen Cerne Abbas to host the launch of the Penguin Paperback issue of Claire Tomalin`s book Thomas Hardy, The Time-Torn Man.
On 23rd November the Mellstock Band played to an enthusiastic audience in a packed Village Hall. Artsreach events have really 'taken off' in Cerne Abbas. Tickets sell fast so do book early to avoid disappointment. They are available at Cerne Abbas Stores. Information will be displayed on posters. Please put these dates in your diary:
Saturday 19th January "An evening of Dorset Film Archive" featuring images dated from 1905 to the present day, using the latest video projection technology.
Tuesday 19th February "The Steadfast Tin Soldier". This will be a morning production coinciding with the school half term holiday aimed at youngsters. Families will enjoy one of Hans Christian Anderson's best-loved stories.
Friday 4th April. An evening production entitled "The Mad Woman in the Attic". Many of us will be able to relate only too well to this one. It is humorous, poignant play that will challenge preconceptions about 'senior citizens' in a world of youth culture.
